At Veto Sports, our aluminium goals are crafted from marine-grade aluminium and finished in powder-coated white for a clean finish. However, we do recommend regular cleaning to remove dirt and debris to keep them looking and performing in tip-top shape.

Steel

While incredibly durable, steel is the most susceptible to rust of all types of goal posts. Regular inspections and touch-up painting with anti-rust coatings are crucial to maintain longevity.

PVC

Primarily used for lightweight, portable options, PVC is susceptible to cracking and deterioration under extreme weather conditions. Careful storage and avoiding extended exposure to harsh elements including sun (especially in Australia!) will go a long way towards maintaining your goals.

Cleaning And Maintaining Your Goal Posts

Regardless of the material you go with, a consistent routine of maintenance is important when it comes to extending the life of your football goal posts. Here’s what you’ll need to do to protect your investment.

Keep Them Clean

This is one of the easiest things to do for your new goal posts! Be sure to regularly remove dirt, debris, and mud from your goals, whatever they’re made from. This prevents the build-up of corrosive materials that can damage the surface and weaken the structure. When cleaning, use a soft brush and mild soapy water, followed by thorough rinsing with clean water.

Check The Nets

Make sure to regularly inspect the netting and connections for signs of wear and tear and of course, repair or replace damaged netting promptly to prevent further deterioration. New netting and clips can be purchased online for ease of replacement.

Bust The Rust

For steel posts, you should absolutely prioritise rust prevention. Check your posts for signs of rust, and apply anti-rust paint promptly to any affected areas.

Take Care of the Wheels

Keep the wheels inflated and regularly check to ensure they are in good condition. The wheels are critical for ease of movement. When they start to deteriorate, new wheel sets can be purchased and shipped immediately from the VETO distribution centre.

Pay Attention To Storage And Transportation

When your football goal posts are not in use, proper storage can go a long way towards preventing damage from weather elements and ensuring their longevity. The best storage areas should be dry and well-ventilated – avoid storing your goal posts in damp or humid environments, as this can accelerate rust and deterioration. Also keep your goals covered if possible. And, if you have to store your goals outdoors, invest in weatherproof covers to shield them from rain, sun, and wind.

Transport With Care

When transporting your goal posts, try to avoid dragging them across rough surfaces. Keep the wheels straight and locked under to lift the goal and ensure they are properly secured during transport.
